Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Airport is
located 8 miles west of the City of Edinburgh. In recent years the airport
has experienced a big increase in direct air links and now handles a
throughput of over 9 million passengers a year. Many new services to
Europe have
come on stream in recent years as well as direct scheduled flights to the USA with
Continental Airlines to New York.
Delta Airlines begin a daily service to New York JFK from 2 May 2008.

Low cost carriers such as easyJet, Flybe, bmibaby, Ryanair, Jet2 and
Flyglobespan have a sizeable presence at Edinburgh Airport. easyJet now offer international flights to
Paris, Krakow, Gdansk, Nice, Dortmund, Geneva,
Amsterdam, Munich, Milan, Madrid, Palma and Alicante. Ryanair have just
announced Edinburgh as a new base with 17 routes commencing between
March and September. Polish budget
carrier Centralwings fly to 5 destinations in Poland. Germanwings link Edinburgh
to Cologne, Clickair fly to Barcelona, Sterling link Edinburgh with
Copenhagen and Stockholm and Norwegian Air
Shuttle provide flights to Oslo.
All the
London airports have frequent flights from Edinburgh Airport as do all the major
airports in England. European airlines such as Air France, KLM and
Lufthansa have regular flights to the capital offering worldwide connections
at their hubs. SAS offer
summer season services to Stockholm. bmi fly
overseas to Brussels, Zurich and
Copenhagen. Air Cargo services with
UPS, DHL,
TNT, Channel Express and others add to the busy scene.
