Edinburgh Airport
By Road: Road access to the airport is easy from the two-level junction on
the A8 midway between the Gogar and Newbridge roundabouts. If approaching
from the Edinburgh side join the A8 from the city bypass and proceed towards
Glasgow. From the North and West you should join the A8 at the Newbridge
roundabout and proceed towards Edinburgh. Follow signs for airport.

parking is available. All car parks are safe and convenient.

By Train: Edinburgh's main railway
station (Waverley) is in the city centre and can be reached by taxi or bus.

city centre.

By Bus: An express bus (AirLink) is
operated by Lothian Buses www.flybybus.com.
It operates every 15 minutes to and from the Airport and Waverley Station in
the city centre and the journey takes approximately 25 minutes. Fares are £3
for a single and £5 for a return journey. If you are travelling by bus in
the city, it is possible to buy an Airsaver ticket which also allows travel
on citywide Lothian buses. As well as stopping at Waverley, the AirLink also
stops at Shandwick Place (West End), Haymarket, Murrayfield, Edinburgh Zoo,
Costorphine, Maybury and the Airport Hilton. There is also a bus service to
Fife.
By Taxi: Taxis are available from a
designated rank beside the coach park outside the UK arrivals hall. A
typical journey time to the city centre costs around £15 and takes about 25
minutes and fares vary according to the distance travelled. Many of the
taxis are wheelchair accessible.
Transport projects
Train: The controversial
£650m EARL plan has been scrapped in favour of other rail improvements
including building a new station at Gogar to connect the Fife line with the
Edinburgh tram network which will serve the airport. A new loop from the
Glasgow line is also planned to connect that railway with the airport-city
tram at Gogar.
Tram:
A high-quality, modern and
efficient tram network is being created for Edinburgh. Trams are scheduled
to be running on the Capital’s streets by 2011 and link the airport with the
city six times an hour. More
information here.
